Complained yesterday knew was sore, no injury, no rash but slightly swollen.

Clearly v painful and can't really bear any weight, so treat as injury, give regular painkillers and go to Gp on Monday if not resolved or take to out of hours today? Bit of dodgy tum and sore throat (awaiting referral to hosp for this as has sore throat and tum at least once s month).

I don't want to be neurotic other but equally it just seems odd?

Thanks

I would go today. You don't know what it is without and injury.

JontyDoggle37 · 24/01/2015 07:17

Please go today, things can happen so quickly with children. Unexplained mobility issues are always a big red flag.

sockmatcher · 24/01/2015 07:18

Go out of hours today definitely.

FlossieTreadlight · 24/01/2015 07:20

I'd take her to OOH. Hope all is well and you're home soon

PopularNamesInclude · 24/01/2015 07:40

A&E. She is 8, in pain, cannot walk, no good reason why? They may want an xray/bloodtest if you do not know the cause. Could be infection?

WipsGlitter · 24/01/2015 07:41

I would see ooh or A&E today.

I'd go to a&e too

PunkrockerGirl · 24/01/2015 07:44

Definitely OOH today. Hope she's ok.

Stillyummy · 24/01/2015 07:46

Go to a and e. Somtimes infections can go to joints and cause a temporary swelling and immovable joint. If that's the case it needs treating to not cause long term damage asap. On the bright side, if it is this it clears up quickly, my DH had it and it was fine in 5 days.

sockmatcher · 24/01/2015 07:57

If OOH is decent in OPs area they can refer direct to ward so by pass a&e.

saintlyjimjams · 24/01/2015 08:01

Has she had a cold???

Ds2 had this twice. Both times due to a post viral irritable hip - although the first time the knee rather than hip hurt (that's quite common apparently).

The first time they x rayed the wrong bit of him (knee rather than hip) so DH took him home without letting them do a second x Ray (they all thought it was the cold thing snyway).

Second time I just left him to rest & it was find quickly.

saintlyjimjams · 24/01/2015 08:05

Here's NHS stuff about it. And although they say the pain is mild ds2 couldn't weight bear at all. It went quickly thiough / just a few days.

Yes, ooh or a&e today. My DD1 had similar symptoms as a toddler and it turned out to be a serious infection requiring hospital treatment. Hopefully it won't be that though.

Baddz · 24/01/2015 08:13

Ooh today

codandchipstwice · 24/01/2015 08:39

Wow thanks all, I rang 111 and spoke to a lovely nurse who was really thorough but said straight to a and e, so DH left 30 mins ago. Came back in 10 mins ago, car wouldn't start, took him 20 mins to think might be worth getting taxi.

Girl she goes to cm with has hsp that started like this but with rash, no rash yet.

Thanks so much

Cod

Poor little thing! Hope she feels better soon.

Thumbwitch · 24/01/2015 08:46

Glad she's going to A&E, that's the best thing she can do. Hope it turns out to be nothing too serious.

MrsKCastle · 24/01/2015 09:01

Glad she's going to be seen, hope it turns out to be something minor.

Bunbaker · 24/01/2015 11:49

How is your DD?

codandchipstwice · 24/01/2015 12:40

She's just back :D she saw many drs and was xrayed and she's got fluid on the knee. No sign of infection or anything, so just rest and trey with painkillers. Letter from consultant to return and bypass a and e if no better for Monday.

Thank you so much for replying earlier
