Cough that sounds like a sneeze?!

Before I get flamed for posting on here, yes I've an appointment to see a doctor tomorrow, they can't see us till then but just after some advice.....

DD is 19 weeks and for the last 2 days she's had a fever which goes away slightly with calpol.

Yesterday afternoon she started to cough, but as daft as this sounds, it sounds like a sneeze but it's definately a cough! Sort of deep sounding at the start and then higher pitched at the end.

When I said this to the receptionist she said it sounds like croup? Surely at 19 weeks she's too young for croup? MIL panicked me and said it sounds like the start of whooping cough!!

Croup is also described as sounding like a seal bark, does it sound like that?

Maybe a little bit. It's just very strange sounding and I've never heard a cough like it before.

Obviously if she sounds worse ill phone the gp back for an emergency appointment x

I know what you mean, ds has had that sneeze cough thing, but he's a lot older, if you're worried, insist that the Dr sees your dd today!!

hi @MrsGiraffe12 my little girl who is almost 5 has been having this cough sneezing sound for a while a could not put a name on it.
what did your Dr said it is ?
