Possible Chickenpox?

4yr old has woken up with this rash on face. There was previously only one small spot on his nose.
Also the soles of his feet are covered in a faint rash.
He has been suffering a slightly high temp for the past couple of days but no other symptoms.
I will get him to a doctor but in the meantime, can anyone advise if this looks like chickenpox?
My other child is showing no symptoms yet. Neither of them have had CP yet.

I would say it's hand foot and mouth.

Superworm · 11/01/2015 08:46

Ield say hand foot and mouth too with a rash on the soles of the feet. No need to take him to the doctor unless he is really unwell. DS had both recently and they passed within a week.

doesn't sound like chicken pox. chicken pox tend to be more around the trunk and are quite distinct raised red spots which develop a blister in them. google images and you will see what I mean.

Sounds like foot and mouth maybe? or a virus?

Thanks everyone, his dad has taken him to the clinic, fingers crossed it's nothing serious!

Really?

I'm sorry your child is ill but this is not an ooh job. This could be treated at home/pharmacy advice.

No wonder our nhs is overstretched.

Ratracerunner · 11/01/2015 12:00

It's impetigo, so not too serious, just needs keeping away from other kids. Poor little mite

Still not a condition for ooh

Inkspellme · 12/01/2015 19:16

so how is someone to know if it's serious without checking with a doc?

hindsight is always 20/20 vision.

LuckyLopez · 12/01/2015 19:38

Well for a start apart from a 'slightly high temp' the child had no other symptoms.

People need to use common sense. This was not a seriously ill child.
