Chicken pox & pregnancy.

I am 14 weeks pregnant with my second child. Today I have read a few of my friends posts on facebook about their children getting chicken pox (3 on the same day). I have a 3 year old that hasn't had them but was around one of the children the last day of term before Christmas. My child had a nasty cold last week and was quite poorly (lying around which is so much unlike him)

Anyway. I never really thought much more of it until I read a comment about keeping pox away from pregnant ladies.

However, I assume I am safe as I had them as a toddler. I am the oldest of 4 children and have been around my younger siblings with chicken pox all at different times so assume I'm immune?

If you are worried that you might not be immune, let your midwife know and they will check your bloods. It sounds like you most likely are immune though in which case there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

As you are over 12 weeks even if the worst happened and you did catch it the chances are everything would be fine, it's only usually a problem if it is caught in the first 12 weeks or very late in pregnancy (at the time of giving birth) . Hope that helps
