How contagious is tonsillitis?

I was round my friend's house Friday, her little girl was a bit under the weather, high temperature, sore throat and she thought it was because of her jabs a couple of days before (3 year booster MMR) but she was playing happily with my little girl. Turns out it's actually tonsilitis, my daughter has the constitution of an ox and rarely catches anything but I've heard it's quite contagious. Does anyone know how likely it is she will have caught it and how long it would take symptoms to appear?

Depends if its viral or bacterial.

If she's been given antibiotics is must be bacterial, therefore your daughter cannot catch it.

If it is viral. Symptoms start around 5 days after infected roughly.

So around now ish.

Even if viral she may not catch it , less contagious than a cold as no sneezing to spread!
