Please help

My Daughter is 9 months old..

Past 6 weeks she's had an on and off temperature highest being 39.5 (im quick to administer calpol to bring it down)

I have been up and down to NHS out of hours GP were 1 doctor said she had ulcers in the back of her throat and that it would clear up in the next 5 days.. 6 weeks on and the ulcers have gone but still getting high temps so my GP has started a course of antibiotics started a few days ago which doesn't seem to be working at the moment he doesn't know what's wrong.. she's very pale.. had 2 half wet nappys in 1 day..

I'm very worried about her.. just feel that something just isn't right

I think I would bring her to a and e. My son had a temp for three weeks. Like you was up and down to doctor.

Eventually ended up in a and e. He had a severe pneumonia.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to get bloods done. How constant is the high temp?
Maybe she is just piggy backing infections, one after the other ?

Six weeks of on and off temperatures is a long time, especially given how young she is.

I would also ask for a blood test. Normally you expect a good response to anti-biotics in 24-48 hours, so either they are not the right antibiotics or she doesn't need antibiotics and something else is wrong.

You could either take her to A&E (especially if she still has fever and doesn't wee enough, does she eat at all?) or insist tomorrow to the GP on an urgent referral to a paediatrician or go private (even if just for the first consultation). Many NHS hospitals have paediatricians who work for the NHS but also see patients privately (either in the NHS hospital or a private hospital).

Trust your instincts and if you are worried take her to A&E. I have DC who are GPs and they are only human and make mistakes. ( they are actually terrified of making mistakes)
However, at the same time Diagnosing what is wrong with someone, especially someone who cannot speak, is not an exact science.
My DC would be the first to admit that they are not God, so do what you have to do. Insist and fight for your own child.
Also however glam any one might think being a Dr is, they can often be dog tired and very stressed out themselves. It is very stressful job.
So if you are not happy, then get a second opinion and the sooner the better.

I took her to A and E today.. turns out she had a water infection.. the Dr said that this could have been the cause for the cause week period of high Tempreture.. we are now on a different type of Antibiotics..
