montelukast in food to prevent asthma - but he won't eat!

Hi - 19m son was admitted to hospital last month with breathing difficulties. We have an inhaler but in an effort to prevent him needing a steroid preventer we've been given montelukast sachets to mix into food when he gets a cold...today he's got a cold and exactly the same barking type cough he had last time but only problem is he's completely off his food, wouldn't eat even a mouthful.
DOes anyone know if there is an alternative? Makes sense that if he feels ill he won't eat so seems pointless giving me medicine to put in food!

Put it on a spoon of yoghurt and treat it like medicine?

We have palatable sugary montelucast pills. At first we found some similar-sized sweets and gave 3 sweets and a pill all at once with the instruction to chew not suck and it was fine. These days we just give the pill on it's own and refer to it as medicine sweetie.

we put in flavoured yoghurt. is he not tempted by yoghurt at all?

He has dairy and soya allergies (and others) so no yoghurt but i made custard with oatley and he wouldn't let the spoon anywhere near him - probably my own fault, i've never bothered with puddings so he was probably wondering what the hell it was! I'll try it in some gravy tomorrow night and see if that works but if not i'll have to ask about the pills. Thanks all.
