In my mouth, hair, all over the kitchen floor, himself. It was like something out of the Exorcist. I've done everything practicality wise ie bath, clean up, disinfect etc. I have given him sips of water. He seems totally fine now he has got rid of everything from his stomach. What should I do now?

I know the 48 hour rule and can stick to that ok. Do I need to take him to the doctor? How should I feed and water him for the next few days? Should I stay in his room with him tonight incase he is sick in the night?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Eek. How old is he?

FastWindow · 27/10/2014 19:02

Yes, I would. Make him sleep on a towel or better yet a bedwetting paper mat thing if you have them. Keep a bowl close and line it with loo roll (for splashback) good luck... Oh and NO MILK!!!

I didnt used to stay in the room but did put a towel on the pillow and give a bowl lined with kitchen roll. I normally start with toast as a first food after illness.

Sorry I should have put his age. He is 23 months. He was sick on Saturday night overnight and I put that down to him eating a HUGE dinner. He was fine Sunday and today but he woke from his nap at about 4pm and wasn't right. Very clingy and crying easily. I gave him a small bottle of milk - which of course was one of the main components of the sick! Obviously I know now he was feeling sick as within the hour we have had the vomit episode.

Is it a virus do you think? I assume that as some of it went in my mouth (I was kneeling down infront of him when he was sick) that I'm likely to get it too?

Just keep up the fluids, buy some dioralyte from the chemist if it continues.

You will probably be fine, as your immune system is much stronger than his. My two (4 and 1) had a vomvirus last week. I didn't even feel gippy. He should be over it now, I would say. I hope!
