Tips for getting eye drops/ointment in without dd getting hysterical!!

Dd is 2 years 10 months and managed to scratch her own eye ball this morning, ended up in a&e as she was in so much pain and very upset. Doc has said it's a linear scratch and will heal itself but we need to put these drops or ointment (whichever is easier) in 4 times a day for 5 days! She gets really upset with this sort of thing (think crying, kicking and screaming bloody murder!) and I don't want her getting so stressed out all the time... so does anyone have any tips on how to make the whole process easier? Any help much appreciated! :)

Anyone? It's proving virtually impossible so far :/

Easiest way is to get her to lie back, close her eyes and you put a drop in the inner corner. As she opens her eyes the drops roll in. Not as scary as seeing a bottle jabbing at your eye. Don't know that she will cooperate, if not try bribery.

Good luck!

Only suggestion I have is to try when she is asleep! Go in kiss on forehead, then gently pop lid up and squeeze drops in!

You could try doing with her eyes shut - some will go in. Maybe if she lies down with her head in your lap and you tell her to keep eyes shut - pop a drop in the corner then open eyes and blink. Some will go in each time.

She will probably wake up and be really pissed off if I did it while she slept haha!

I will try bribery and see how that goes... I just want her to stop screaming the house down 4 times a day, god knows what the neighbours think! Plus I feel really mean like I'm making her hysterical by just trying to get the damn things in... she was exactly the same with the dr at the hospital as well though so I know it's not just me. She is a bit of a sensitive soul...
