Bright red ear???

DS has been sent home with a bright red ear.

He keeps pressing his hand against it.

I took him to the doctors on Tuesday because he had a seizure and the doctor gave him anti biotics just in case he had any sort of infection. So if he did have an ear infection brewing surely they would have put stop to that if he's been taking them since Tuesday?

It's only started being red today and it is bright red, it looks glowing Confused

Just giving this a bump just in case anyone knows. I've rang the doctor and am waiting for them to call back but sometimes they get busy and don't get a chance to Sad till then he's in pain, even with the calpol, and if he gets too stressed he will convulse again Sad

He needs to be seen by out of hours or a and e pronto I reckon. Is there any swelling behind his ear?

It may just be a simple ear infection but you can get viral ones, so antibios won't work, or possibly it's bacterial but he has the wrong kind of antibios.

I wouldn't usually say a and e or OOH but he had a febrile convulsion (?) earlier in week and am presuming this is not 'normal' for him?

The convulsions are normal for him unfortunately. They're seizures really he has them if he even gets slightly too hot. But on Tuesday he stopped breathing which is why I took him in.
