Advise on Ds's temp 39.2

I took it at 12 it was 39.2. Gp receptionist told me to give him normal dose of calpol which at 12:30 took it down to 38.2 then 37.7 at 13:15. He went to nursery whilst I went to college for two hours and was fine apparently. Didn't eat a lot just picked at it

He's now hot where he's making my hands warm via his back/tummy (I'm at a friends and no thermometer)? And all he's doing is lying on the sofa staring/watching TV and keeps falling asleep but will wake up with a little shake he's not talking etc. Which normally he is when he's at my friends they're running around shouting screaming playing etc

Any advise? He goes to bed at 6:30/7

My Ds gets very sleepy when he has a temp. I would give him another dose of calpol and if he doesn't pick up after that then maybe a walk in or out of hours gp appointment?

How old is he?

I would get some children's ibuprofen in and alternate it with the Calpol to keep his temperature down. If you can't keep it down then ring out of hours. A temperature in itself will make kids (and adults) feel pretty grotty but you can hopefully get on top of it with the medicine.

He needs plenty to drink.

It's good that the medicine is bringing the temp down.

Don't let him get too cold after his bath.

Don't send him to nuraery with a high temperature.

He went to nursery after they advised he was allowed to and I'd be called if need as it was only for 2 hours. He's absolutely fine today no temp eating, drinking playing fine so that's good. thanks all for the help
