Sudden vomiting (8 month old )

I put my son to bed at 7:30 and he went down fine as always. At 8:30 I heard him making gagging noises over the baby monitor and went in to find he'd been sick everywhere. I changed him and the bed sheets, gave him a cuddle and put him back to bed. He shuffled around his cot for about 15 minutes then was sick again. Changed him and the bed again and he was sick again all over the front room. Just as we were putting him back to bed for a third time he was sick again but nothing other than a bit of liquid came out of his mouth. He's been asleep for about half an hour now and seems ok.

He hasn't eaten anything he hasn't had before and hasn't banged his head. He wasn't crying or anything while he was being sick and he was smiling and acting his normal self in between the vomiting episodes. His temp is normal. He did seem tired but I guess it was 2 hours after he'd normally be asleep so he's bound to be tired. He started nursery on Monday so maybe picked up a bug there but he's been fine all last night and all day today.

Is it worth calling the doctor or just wait till the morning and see how he is? Also should I try waking him and giving him some water to rehydrate him?

Any advice would be really helpful!

Thanks xx

Sounds like a bug - be absolutely Shit hot on your hand hygiene to avoid catching it and 48h before he can go to nursery after last sickness.

As for fluids, mine were breastfed so I just did that on demand, it's unusual to have a fever with a d&v bug although a fever can make children vomit.

Little point in calling a GP for a sickness bug but they are often happy to give advice over the phone. If his nappy is dry in the morning I would definitely seek advice. Also when better go easy on dairy to begin with.
