ds has been saying this week that his left knee feels like its 'giving way' when hes running round the field at the start of a games lesson, it hurts like mad then eases off. They don't appear to do any kind of warm up before running and then have to run in football boots. Is ir worth asking our gp? Games teacher tells him off for whinging when he has to stop because of the pain and makes him run round again!! Hes not particularly sporty, but its upsetting him - can the gp do anything? He did fall over earlier in the week (on same enforced run) but can't remember anything else

Could be worth going to your GP. I'm not sure the teacher should make him continue with sports if he is in pain, and the cause needs to be checked out.

There is a painful knee condition that can affect boys and girls at about this age (Osgood Schlatters).

Get him checked by the GP and check out Osgood Schlatters , ds is 12 and it's practically an epidemic in his year at school

Thanks, not Osgood, but is inflamed, GP has prescribed anti inflammatory and told ds to only do 'light games' for next 2 weeks, wish teacher had listened to ds, but at least he can't now say ds is faking it which was the comment earlier today!
