Is this Ring worm?

I noticed these strange marks in the bath this evening on lo aged 7.5mnths. They weren't there when I got him dressed this morning. He does not flinch or appear to notice them when touched. They are slightly raised around the edges, not hot or scaley to the touch.

Any ideas??

Is this Ring worm?

It has the look of ringworm from the picture if a little large, does it feel dry to the touch and maybe a little crusty in the centre? If you believe it is then you can get an anti-fungal cream from the chemist to treat it, it clears up quite easily but is contagious so keep an eye on yourself for signs.

ProfYaffle · 13/09/2014 09:16

Looks like ringworm to me. It clears up really quickly with fungal cream.

Oh poor mite it does look like it

gamerchick · 13/09/2014 09:19

Ringworm doesn't usually start off that big though does it?

That looks quite alarming if it's just appeared... maybe popping to a chemist this morning and getting the pharmacists opinion.

callamia · 13/09/2014 10:39

Looks like it. My baby had a patch at a similar age. I was mortified, but a couple if days of anti fungal cream saw it off.

beautifulgirls · 13/09/2014 12:33

That looks quite large for the first noticing of ringworm. I would get it checked out personally.

bumpiesonamission · 13/09/2014 13:20

Thanks all. Weirdly, as quickly as it appeared it's gone again???!!! I'm going to see the gp on Monday just to safe?! He has woken with the sniffles but I don't think they're connected?!

If it disappeared within a day, it could be Pityriasis rosea.

bumpiesonamission · 13/09/2014 20:17

Mmm interesting. The middle wasn't scaley though. Tonight he has what looks like a small cluster of bumps that look like a reaction to a few bites?!! so strange. He is snotty as anything now but again I dont think it's related ??? Hmm

I'd get it checked and show doc photo. Could be hives or a reaction to a bite. It looks a bit like the bullseye rash you can get from tick bites but I don't think it would've just disappeared if it was that.

concernedaboutheboy · 13/09/2014 20:21

Have you been in any areas where lyme disease is endemic? Eg richmond park, new forest?

bumpiesonamission · 13/09/2014 20:28

Nope, nowhere near anything that would carry ticks. We have a kitten but she has been wormed and fleaed and darent go near our grabby baby!!

concernedaboutheboy · 14/09/2014 13:21

Probably not a tick bite, then. Hosts tend to be things like deer...

bumpiesonamission · 14/09/2014 13:57

Nope, no deer here! really not sure. Oh well off to the gp we go!
