I feel like an awful mummy. She fell off the trampoline nine days ago. We took her to minor injuries on the day because she was in shock, concussed and was complaining of pain in her shoulder so we thought that it may be broken. Nurse sent us home, didn't think it was broken because she had good mobility in it. Thought nothing more of it until we went to the park on Tuesday. Mum went to hold her hand and she flinched away. Mum said this wasn't right and so we took her back to minor injuries. They put a splint on it and said to come back today for an x-Ray although chances were it would be a sprain... no it's broken. Clearly a buckle fracture to her wrist, the one she writes with. She now has a temporary cast until Monday when she has to go to fracture clinic and get it properly 're done. I feel awful for her, and she can't even do her dance classes over the weekend. Bless her.

Don't feel bad, these things happen and you did the right thing on the day to get her checked too. I highly recommend getting a waterproof cast cover (we got a bloccs one from amazon) asap and then she can bath or wash with it on - they are really effective. DD2 had her arm in a cast over the summer a year ago and she ended up in the sea body boarding with her cast cover on and no problems with leakage.

These things happen, it was an accident. You got her seen as soon as it happened and followed medical advice.

If it makes you feel better I broke my ankle and my mam sent me to school the next day with crutches and a bandage. I was at secondary school and had 8 flights of stairs to go down for registration and then back up and across campus for first lesson. She felt so guilty when we went to the fracture clinic a few days later and it was broken.

Thank you both. I just really thought they'd say it was a sprain. Bless her, she thinks it's great!

crazycat my mum did similar, sent me to school with appendicitis, then when I was sent home her and the gp thought it was a urine infection... when they removed my appendix six hours later it had almost burst! On the way to hospital my mum was telling me to act more ill when we got to hospital because she thought I didn't look poorly!
