Hand, foot and mouth twice?

From what I've read it's very rare. Does anyone have any experience?

DS2 had it in January. He's had a cold for a few days now. Spots started on his bum yesterday afternoon and in the evening he had a few on his legs and feet and a couple of his hands. They're pretty much the same today and none in or near his mouth. He's absolutely fine in himself.

This couldn't come at a worse time as he's due an operation in less than 2 weeks and I'm really worried that they won't want to operate.

I think there are 2 different versions of it so you could catch each one iyswim? Could it be chickenpox?

It's definitely not chicken pox. Looks just like the spots he had last time but nothing around/in his mouth still and still no new spots. He's also fine in himself and no temp or anything. Not quite sure what to do tbh.

Also, last time I knew where he'd got it from (a little friend who'd got it from nursery). This time I haven't got a clue and we haven't spent any time with other children recently.

We lived in Asia for a few years, hfmd is very common there and can be caught multiple times...I had heard that In the uk they say that is not the case, perhaps different strains? But def in Asia you can catch it many times over..

Definitely you can get hfm virus more than once. Should be less severe the subsequent times Grin

My DD has had it twice. It's horrible.
