Hello
Wondered if anyone has any advise. My baby is 8 weeks old next Tuesday, she has been struggling with wind/ colic since about 3 weeks old and I have tried all the over counter remedies dentinox, infacol and gripe water. She has now gone 5 days without having a Bm and I am really worried, She seems to be in discomfort and trying to pushy poo out put there is nothing but bad gas. I took her to the GP who prescribed Lactulose, I gave her a dose last night and this morning but nothing has come and I am afraid it is making her worse, The health visitor also suggested Orange Juice I tried this and no luck. Any tips or suggestions to ease her pain or help her go. I hate listening to her in pain 24/7.

Joanne

Baby massage might help. There was a specific one that I used that helped with colic for my ds. Also cycling leg motions. Maybe try you tube for some baby massage. They may have some tips on there.

It must be awful watching your dd in pain, but it won't always be like this. It's also fairly normal for young babies not to have a bowel movement that often, especially if they're breast fed. Try not to worry and keep doing what you are doing and keep inccontact with your health visitor if you're worried. They will let you know if you havessomething to really worry about.

Breast or bottle? Some that you're saying makes me wonder about cows milk protein intolerance.

I have tried the baby massage do it three times a day, no luck with that but thanks for the tip. I am breast feeding I thought about maybe cutting dairy out of my diet and see if that helps for a week. I thought the same about orange juice.

I was told to give prune juice as it's gentler than orange juice-this was by a specialist at Kings. Initially ds had a suppository then we continued with tummy massage and the juice.
