Slapped cheek / Scarlet fever

Hi

My DD aged 3y4mo has been poorly for a few days. Raging temperature (controlled by meds), tiredness, sore mouth, white tongue, rash all over, bright red cheeks which has turned into spots on face, eating hardly anything, tummy ache etc etc. Giving her regular Calpol , Nurofen, Piriton.

Has been to walk in centre Weds and GP Thurs. GP diagnosed Slapped Cheek Syndrome. But everything I've read says this is mild and she's really quite poorly and not really getting better. So I'm wondering if it's Scarlet Fever.

Does anyone have experience of either of these who can share symptoms?

Waiting for a call back from out of hours doctor via NHS111....

My dd has had both. With slapped cheek, she actually looked like she'd been slapped across the face. The rash was distinctive as it was streaky rather than even redness. If was a good few years ago so can't remember all of her symptoms.

She had scarlett fever recently. She was generally unwell, temperature, tummy ache, very sore mouth and throat. Her tongue was coated white with small red spots that made it look like a strawberry. She didn't have a rash on her body so the doctor thought she may have had scarletina, which is the milder form.

Thanks Sugar. It does sound like Scarlet Fever. We go on holiday on Tuesday so if she needs antibiotics, we need to get them ASAP.

Oh dear. Dd had 10 days of penicillin. They could only prescribe 5 days worth at a time (due to its shelf life) so had to pick the rest up separately so you'll have to ask how you'd get round that with going away.
