Hand, foot and mouth? 10mo DS

Has anyone got any experience of Hand, Foot and mouth please? 10mo DS has been teething really badly with his top teeth, and developed what my Mum said was a teething rash around his mouth and in his nappy. He's been under the weather and had a reduced appetite for a few days. He's also had a bit of a rash on his legs and feet which we thought was linked to the teething, but having had a Google it looks like the HFM rash.

How contagious is it likely to be? We've had a short playdate this morning and been to a birthday party over the weekend, I'm really hoping he's not passed anything on. Is it worth seeing the GP? NHS website seems to suggest not, as he's not really very ill with it.

Can you tell that this is his first illness?! PFB or what?

my kids had hand foot an mouth and all they could eat was ice cream or jelly cause sores in the mouth, so cold food is good. Took about 4 days to get better. Yes you can catch it. Go to gp though to check incase it something else.

Thanks Erinaz, he's looking much better today and managed to eat breakfast so I'm less worried. Apparently it's going round the area at the moment.
