Hi, I'm really worried about my 12 yr old boy, today the doctor told us that he is obese, he is 5"0 and he weighs 12 stone and 3lbs. He is always hungry and is reluctant to exercise so i don't know what to do, please help and give some advice

starburst makes a good point. At that age, they quite like having macho health food competitions - paleo style lots of protein and veg seems to work.

Can you find an exercise he would enjoy? Martial arts, horse riding, rollerblading, kayaking, snowboarding, geocaching? Kids are often turned off by "traditional" exercise. Can you and he be imaginative and try new sports? Most will offer some sort of taster session before you have to commit.

Also, watch your portion sizes. You say 3000 cal a day, but have you tried weighing/measuring the quantities before doing the calories eg 30g of cereal (standard portion size) is a really, really tiny amount.
