My daughter was diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia shortly after birth (I had a clicky hip as a baby and was in a splint/cast/the works so they were v cautious about her). She didn't need to wear a harness and it was corrected with an hour's tummy time every day to encourage the hip to grow properly. Her two follow up ultrasounds/x rays (one a few weeks later and another more than a year later) showed that it had corrected perfectly.
She is now two and a half and has since had no problems, walking etc within normal parameters.
My problem is that our NHS area offers an MRI scan to check up on hip dysplasia patients before the child turns five. Although it is still a while away, I'm unsure whether this is necessary - it seems a big thing for a still relatively small child to go through when the chances are her hip is completely fine. The children's hospital physio almost said as much, saying that as far as she knew, most other NHS areas didn't bother to offer this, so if we moved away or anything in the meantime, not to worry about it.
Has anyone any experience of this - and would you bother? Thanks!
