What are the chances of us having any of our holiday? (Chickenpox)

DS1 (aged 6) woke up with what we thought were a few insect bites, and since then he has more spots, I 'caught' one of them being a blister. I'm fairly sure it's chickenpox.
We're supposed to be taking our caravan off on holiday on Thursday, coming back on the 25th. obviously we'll be going nowhere till all spots are scabbed over, but what are the chances of that happening any time before the 25th?

From this www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Chickenpox/Pages/Prevention.aspx info it would seem you could be away by Friday or the weekend!

If you are not flying or otherwise mixing with other people then what is stopping you going away? Chickenpox is usually worst before the spots come out - once out kids are generally ok.

if you are going in your caravan, he can be kept inside/contained just as easily there as at home. I would go then as soon as they scab you are already insitu to start heading out and about.

it normally takes 5-7 days for them to come out and scab over. Can you not still travel to where you are going with the caravan but just not let him have contact with others until the spots have scabbed.

My DD had them earlier this year, a good amount of spots, she came out with them on a Sunday morning like your DS and we went on holiday the following Friday, as we were going to a very popular holiday place, I had her checked over by a Dr Friday morning who confirmed she was no longer contagious and provided a hand written note stating this to show anyone who might have been concerned.

I love you all, I'd better start packing! !
