Rash on baby's face

My baby is 3 and a half weeks old and has developed this rash over the last couple of days. Dr google tells me perhaps it's baby acne, but can anyone tell if it looks like something more sinister? I am concerned about chicken pox maybe?
He's not registered at the gp yet so not sure if I can call them. The baby clinic is tomorrow morning but I don't know if I should try to get him to see someone before then?

He seems to be ok in himself, except been a bit unsettled today.

I think it's a milk rash- lots if babies get them and someone may be able to tell you why- I do recognise it form mine. If you are still worried ask HV or GP

Spinaroo I had seen that, but I'm not sure which one it looks like. I keep swinging between baby acne and chicken pox, but I would imagine if it was chicken pox he would be poorly with it?

oh and he had milk rash early on with white spots but this looks different, more red and widespread

Chicken pox usually starts on the torso. Looks like baby acne to me. You can use all the products in the world (Moo Goo is nice for babies) but ultimately time will sort it out. He is beautiful by the way.

there is nothing on his torso at all, just a little around his neck.

My DD2, now 11 months had terrible baby acne. Everyone commented on it everytime they saw her :-( It broke me heart cos I thought (and still think) she was beautiful. Are you BF? In my experience its worse in BF babies. Also the slight redness around your DS's eyes might be fungal, my DD2 had it too. The doc told me its just a sign of an immuture immune system and it all sorted itself out between 6-8 weeks or so.

Ds had baby acne - I would just turn up at your GP's even if he isn't registered and say you are worried - or call HV. Newborns aren't anything to mess with - assume you have done the glass test - and dr's see it this way to.

Thanks. Yes done the glass test. Called the hv and described it to her. She called it a hormone rash but sounds like the same thing as baby acne. His poor beautiful little face

ooh he is still beautiful. his lovely little cheeks. Chickenpox goes into little vesicles with fluid in them, like very tiny blisters, it doesn't look like that in your picture. Little babies tend to heal up from spots amazingly quickly, at least mine did!

I'm sure the Gp or HV would check him over for you and you could register him there at the same time.

I can't add anymore than what has already been said about the rash, but I just wanted to say that if you do need to call your GP about anything at all please don't hold back just because he isn't registered. If you are registered then registering him is really just a formality and no GP would turn away a newborn if he needed seen.

my ds had baby acne up until around two months. looked really quite angry sometimes and dps supposed best friend screeched and said "whats wrong with his face" when he saw him for the first time. nice eh! yes bf I'm told does make worse due to hormones being passed through. more common in boys I'm lead to believe x

That looks like milk rash, mine got them on and off when she was at 3-6 weeks but eventually she didn't have them anymore. It's mostly because babies skin are sensitive. If your little one is breathing and eating well and his temperature and poop is fine I wouldn't worry about it.
