Anyone with experience of gingivostomatitis?

Poor DS has gingivostomatitis, started last Subday with bleeding guns when brushing his teeth and a temlerature. He vomited on Tuesday evening but I didn't put everything together until I googled about his gum on Thursday.
His gums are so swollen the poor lamb, he won't let me near him with a toothbrush.
Any tips on how long this will last? I'm giving Calpol for his temperature but don't know what else I can do.
And any tips for his pongy breath? Sad

Make sure he is taking enough fluids.
Paracetamol regularly, if he is eating you can give him ibuprofen as well.
Difflam spray/mouthwash can help with the pain.
Corsodyl mouthwash until he can clean his teeth, that will help with his breath too.
It normally lasts between 7-10 days.
Hope he feels better very soon.

How old is your ds? Mine had this when he was about 18 months and from what I remember he was given liquid Zovirax as it is related to the cold sore virus. Didn't last too long so hopefully he'll be better soon.

He's almost 3 so I think he'd just swallow the mouthwash, I'll see if I can get some spray. Went to the pharmacy and she wasn't overly helpful, just said Bonjela.
This is day 8 so hopefully it'll be over soon. He'll only eat pancakes and chocolate spread, presumably because they're soft on his mouth and he has no energy.

If it's no better in a few days I'll take him to the GP.
Thanks both.
