It's red, swollen and about two inches in diameter. Freaking out a little but trying to be rational, I know some swelling is normal. He had a bad reaction to his original mmr and ended up on intravenous antibiotics for a week, hence the paranoia. He had it done 36 hours ago, hes ok, says it's sore and it feels hot. tried to upload pics but says file type not allowed.

Without wanting to alarm you, I agree with your instinct that something isn't quite right, but not as serious as before. It could either be a reaction to the jab or the beginnings of another skin infection. Either way your GP and practice nurse need to know to document the reaction in his notes and to monitor the outcome, and of course to treat your child appropriately for whatever might be going on at the moment. You should go to the surgery ASAP. You can give him an antihistamine and some nurofen as well as calpol, even all at the same time. Good luck!

Thanks mumyum I have rung and spoken to the practice nurse, she said I don't need to bring him in but just to keep an eye on things. Feel like I'm on pins at the moment waiting to see if he gets ill.

Take a daily picture so progress can be tracked objectively. And the moment he looks like he's coming down with something or gets a fever take him in. Tbh the nurse needs to glance at it for 10 seconds I hate when they make decisions without looking. Bloody annoying.

Thanks for the photo idea to keep track of it. Hopefully this upload will work....
