Vomiting and constipation

So i just have a niggling feeling that somethings not right.

My 6 month old has been vomiting since monday. She was sick once on mon, wed and yesterday, 4 times on thurs and not at all on tues and fri. She has also been struggling passing stools and hasn't pooped since fri first thing (she normally goes once a day now on solids, but she has needed me to hold her legs raised the past week to help) She has also been coughing slightly.

We went to the docs on fri for something else but i told the doc and she checked her over. Said she sounded a bit congested but throat isn't inflamed and the sick is prob just a virus as i had loose stools thurs night.

Well she hasn't pooped since the docs (i did mention i had been raising her legs to help her go) and now I've noticed that she randomly shivers (like when "someone walks over your grave") She is more grizzly but i assumed thats because she needs a poo but when she isn't grizzly shes her usual happy self.

I am just being a stupid first time mum aren't i?!

When stufd cant go down they come up. Cant think of better wording. Ds suffers with chronic constipation and is sick when he ks constipated. Is she being treated for constipation

Roxie85 · 06/07/2014 15:55

No not being treated as the stool she passed right before going to the docs ended squishy so doc thought it could turn to diarrhea and it was all virus related.
She isnt being sick every meal and hasnt been sick since yesterday morning but still feeding as normal as doc said if she wants it let her have it.

Have to be gross, but what colour is her vomit? If it's black, she needs to see a doctor urgently. Has she passed any poop at all? Does it look OK? Any fever/clammyness?

Roxie85 · 06/07/2014 16:16

Vomit is just whatever she had last eaten. All home made stuff so i know whats in them. No clammyness or temp and no poop since friday morning.
What does come out has been fairly firm but not pellets. Unless i held her legs she has struggled to push much out but it hasnt been painful for her (when she first started solids no poop for 4 days and it hurt her pushing it out)

That's OK. If there's not a lot in her tummy it will take a while to come out the other end, if that makes sense. She needs plenty to drink though to stop her from getting dehydrated Smile

Was just goimg to say she needs plentt of fluids. She could have some lactulose but I dont know how much. Ds has had it from being younger than 6 months.

Hv recommends freshly squeezed orange juice (not much) in some cool boiled water.
Some pears could her go too

Roxie85 · 06/07/2014 22:26

I have made sure she is still breastfeeding lots and she has cooled boiled water with her solids.
She has managed to do a tiny rather firm poo and still seems v uncomfortable. I'll try some pear and also the orange juice suggestion and see if that helps.
Thanks
