DD poorly for over three weeks

Hello, my 8 year old DD has been ill now for over three weeks - nothing very specific, just feeling sick, loss of appetite (and consequent considerable weight loss) and lethargy. She has had blood tests which were all clear and has been referred to a paediatrician - appointment is on Thursday so hopefully we will get some idea then as to what is wrong. Just wondering really if anyone has had a similar experience and hence any ideas what it could be, as DP and I are beside ourselves with worry - she is generally very healthy and it is unheard of for her to be poorly for this long

TIA

Could it have a psychological root? Is she anxious/upset/stressed about anything? Could it be a cover for an eating disorder?

Not upset about anything as far as I'm aware - she seemed well and happy until this came on quite suddenly. She says she is happy at school and that she wants to go, and there are no particular problems at home.

I don't know anything at all about eating disorders in children this young but my instinct is that it is not this - she has always enjoyed a wide range of foods and had a good appetite.

asked our neighbour who is a GP to have a look at her earlier - he could not find anything obvious other than a 'strawberry tongue', which he said could mean that she has had scarlet fever - however having googled it she does not seem to have had any of the other symptoms!

DP has been doing some online research and thinks it could be something called post-viral gastroparesis, which is a new one on me - anyone got any experience of this?

TIA
