Blood in poo - 111 or GP on Monday?

Dd (23 months) has blood in her poo this morning. Red blood.

Is it something I should ring 111/ooh for, or just wait for GP on Monday?

Did she strain or seem to be in pain (ie could it be a year, can you see a tear?) if so, and if it was a little bit if blood in a constipated poo I would leave it for now and only call 111 if it happens again. If she seems unwell, or has tummy pain, or the blood was jelly like then it could be intersusseption (bowel folds in on itself) and she needs help today.

Tear, not year.

Thanks. Didn't see her strain, but it wasn't jelly like and only a little bit.

I'll keep and eye on her.

Bright red blood is nearly always less serious than dark tarry stools. It's most likely to be a tiny tear or fissure in her anus which opens as she poos. Has she been constipated and straining lately? I would think it could wait for Monday, lots of water and fruit to soften her poo and possibly a little bit of vaseline to help it come out easily.

Dark tarry stools would indicate a bleed higher up in the gastrointestinal tract which is more serious.
