Chicken pox or coincidence?

Ds has had a fever and generally not himself, not eating, tired etc, and has developed what looks like a viral rash. There are also three confirmed cases of chicken pox in his room in nursery. His rash really just looks a viral rash they sometimes get not pox (no blistering occurred).
Is it just coincidence he's got a viral infection at the same time as his friends have confirmed chicken pox? Or possible he's got it but one of the few who don't get the usual spots?

It can take a couple of days for blistering to occur, but what really gives it away are the spots on the face - but you really just know it's chicken pox when it really is so I'd give it another day and if still not convinced, then go to the doc's.
