Just to start this is very long!

Hi my daughter has been having lots of problems with her stomach and bowels with also unrelated symptoms. We started off at the GP having her weighed as she wasn't gaining weight and was always tired. Blood tests came back clear of allergies and no annemia.

She was having episodes of illness every 8 weeks which got more frequent to every 2 weeks so our GP finally referred us to the hospital. I wanted to see a specialist gastro doctor but was told it wouldn't be needed.

In these episodes of illness she has a raging temp, sickness but it is undigested food even if she's not eaten for days, diarrhoea and constipation within the same day, really bad stomach pains and her knees and legs become so sore she can hardly walk.

The hospital doctor started her on domeperidone and omeperazol which significantly improved her condition and she had no more episodes of illness she gained 1.5 stone in three months and finally looks healthy as she is extremely tall for her age (4) however after three months he reviewed her and told us to stop taking the medication and. Within a week she started again with the same things so we went back to the GP who restarted medication and within the week she was fine again.

So now you have the back story do any of you have any suggestions to what it could be and how to approach the doctor for a second opinion and to finally do some actual tests on her to solve the problem.

Hi, my son has Eosinophilic oesophagitis . Eosinophilic GI disease CM cause similar symptoms.

I think you need to push for a paediatric gastro referral. So e times they do endoscopes and biopsies to identify problems.

Feel free to Pm me

Thanks for the replies, I will look into that condition.
She was originally on it for three months then had a two week break when her symptoms returned so GP restarted her on it and she got better within days

How old was ur daughter when this happened? Was she a baby? My daughter is having similar symptoms now. How is ur daughter now?

Has the GP ruled out IBD? Was a CRP and ESR blood taken and a stool sample sent off for calprorectin (?spelling), to rule out any inflammation?

But yes agree with PP, sounds like needs an endoscopy to take a look on the inside.

Apoo · 19/04/2021 10:28

Yeah my daughter needs endoscopy as well. They have ruled out ibd she's not showing any classic ibd symptoms.

Except the diarrhoea, constipation, tummy pains, not gaining weight, tiredness and sickness?

Apoo · 19/04/2021 16:42

Not diarrhea, just loads of vomitings, tiredness, tummy distention and constipation. Vomiting atleast 15 times a day. Shes 5 months old.

Sorry Apoo, I mixed you up with OP - for some reason.

Such a little one. Hope something is sorted quickly for her.
