growing pains or what?

DS is 8 and every now and again gets inexplicable pains in his joints.

Last week it was his wrist, ended up getting an x-ray, but nothing found. It was painful enough for him to be crying with it, thought it did get better then worse again. He was off school with it for a couple of days.

Now today he has woken up with a sore hip. Sore enough for him to be having difficulty bending eg to get dressed and he is walking really carefully.

He can't remember banging it or anything and was fine when he went to bed.

He generally loves school and if he's faking it he's doing a good job - wincing in the right places etc.

So, is there such a thing as growing pains, really?? joint pains that come and go with no obvious injury or anything?

Obviously I'll take him to the doctor if it persists, I'm just after some other thoughts on what it might be really.

Joint Hypermobility? my ds has 'growing pains' but its linked to muscle tiredness and joint instability

If you are concerned get it checked out by GP and ask advise as I'm sure it could be other things or it could be nothing... no one on here will truely know x

My son complained of this and he's young but GP said to go back if he continued to complain of this as there is something that can affect the age group u r mentioning esp in boys.
