DS has had a temperature of 38.5 all afternoon. Snotty, tummy ache and no appetite. Calpol doing nothing. Complaining now that his hands and legs ache. Advice appreciated...

Sounds like a normal virus and I would treat accordingly. He has a mild temp which is a good indication his body is fighting the bug. I would do the normal stuff of fluids, rest, loose clothing.

Have you tried any medicine to reduce the discomfort and aches?

If at all concerned, you must of course consult somebody qualified.

Just seen you've given calpol. When's his next dose due?

How old is he?

You can also give nurofen as well, that can help with temps. As pp said it's not very high which is a good sign- if it was say 39.5 and not going down then you would do well to take trip to OOH, or failing that A&E if your DS is unwell in other respects also.

Hope he feels better soon!

Thank you - he feels rotten
