Impetigo?

DD was sent home from childminder yesterday with suspected impetigo. She had a mark on her temple on Monday, but childminder said she hadn't seen her hit it or get upset. By Tuesday morning it looked like a friction burn. I was called at lunch time, saying it was getting worse and spreading.

I couldn't get a doctors appointment until today at 1.30pm. But now it has gone reddy, and scabbed over and looks more like a graze. It hasn't seemed to spread much since last night.

Could it be something else? If it is impetigo does that mean I have to keep her in the house? I have a 4 year old at preschool today, but tomorrow will be at home.

It does look like impetigo. My dd got it a few years ago, I thought she had grazed her hand but when it spread to her chin I took her to the doctor. It soon cleared up with medicine but it is highly contagious and your dd will need to be kept away from others.

Thanks. I really am not looking forward to at least 48 hours stuck in house. We never spend all say at home. No toddler groups, no library.

What am I going to do with them?
