Ds passed a black bm today. He started a multi vitamin with iron 2 days ago. It has 25% of rda of iron. Would this make a stool turn black so quickly. Should I be worried? He has been run down which is why I bought the vitamin the first place.

Maybe the mushrooms as their gills are black.

I've never been able to take iron tablets as they make me constipated and the stool goes black as quickly as that so I would say the iron definitely.

It could well be the iron but I would still take him to GP.

It's the iron.

Iron. This is very common.
