Nosebleeds - graphic detail I'm afraid!

DS2 has lots of nosebleeds (maybe 3-4 a week, sometimes 3-4 a day). Today's was the first in over a week, but it took over 30 minutes to stop flowing...properly flowing - a constant stream. Seems to happen when he gets stressed (DS1 changed TV channels which caused this one!) He was also v sick today, had obviously swallowed a lot of blood. He's been asleep for the last three hours.
Should I be going to the GP (I was just starting to contemplate a ambulance today)? I know some children are very prone to this and will just grow out of it; also have heard mixed success stories about cauterisation - not even sure they would do this?
If it's relevant, I bleed heavily as well...needed a transfusion after DS1 and was on a drip to prevent this when DS2 was born.

yes I would take him just to get checked out. DD had a nasal spray prescribed once for nosebleeds. Does he get hayfever or have allergies? Anti-histamines may be something else that may help. The GP may have other info to help.

With amount of blood he has lost and given he is 'generally unwell' having vomitted and sleeping a lot, I would possibly contact NHS 111 for advice. They are your best bet.

Have you been tested for HHT?
I ask, as I have HHT and the first sign for me was nose bleeds as a child.
HHT or Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia, is a blood vessel disorder which can cause some abnormal blood vessels to form which can bleed - hence nose bleeds.

It may well be something else, but it is worth raising the idea with the GP (as some Drs unfortunately know very little about it).

Whether it is that or not, I would definitely be going to see a Dr with that level of bleeding. It could be that he may need cauterising or other treatment.

Ds2 suffered with nosebleeds. He has an infection in his nose. GP gave him some cream to put up there.

It has since become reinfected and more cream given, but GP said that the vein in his nose may end up being cortorised.

My son has frequent nose bleeds and I have heard naseptin nasal cream may help has anyone any experience of using this cream and does it work?

Yes get him seen by the GP. He may need an ENT referral too.

Yes we have used naseptin cream and each time it worked for quite a few months. Has been prescribed 3 times over last 2 years. Last visit a different GP refused to prescribe it and said it was hay fever and advised a hay fever medicine instead and so far the nose bleeds are continuing!
