Does anyone know about urine tests?

Had a post in behaviour as DS age 4 has been excessively weeing/ started wetting himself/ wetting bed etc. Took him to the docs today as thought it may be a urine infection, urine test showed urine as being totally clear and doc said it is probably just one of those unexplained things that happen to 4 year olds sometimes and will hopefully sort itself out. Someone on other thread warned about diabetes, would the test GP used to test for urine infection also show up any signs of diabetes if there were any?

I think it would probably have shown up on the dip test if he had sugar in his urine, which I believe is an indicator of diabetes www.patient.co.uk/doctor/urine-dipstick-analysis

Is he suddenly drinking a lot more? I always thought that the onset of diabetes in children generally comes with a host of symptoms. I am not medically qualified however, so hopefully someone who knows better will be along soon to put your mind at rest.
