Newborn with diarrhea

My 5 week old has had diarrhea for 4 days. She is exclusively breastfed and my diet has been pretty much the same since pregnancy, no antibiotics or anything like that.

At the moment she has no temperature, and is behaving quite normally aside from soiling about 12 nappies a day. They smell slightly sour but not unpleasant at all and are fillied with fluid or mucus with tiny bits of curd.

I took her to A&E and the doctor stated that it could've been something I've eaten, bacterial or a viral infection. They've taken a stool sample results due tomorrow hopefully, and warned me about dehydration.

Has anyone else experienced this? We've had no visitors and no one close to us has had diarrhoea or vomiting. it's just concerning to me because thus far she is showing no signs at all of improvement.

Back to GP for check up. Just to make sure she isn't dehydrated.

It could still be viral even if the rest of you have not felt ill or very ill at least.

I would ask GP given its a newborn baby in question.

Thanks, I'll go back to either the GP or hospital for more advice. Very frustrating because I have two other children and know this is not normal and I'm hoping it's not something more serious - though she does seem well and is still drinking plenty.
