Coughing when in bed

DD caught a terrible cough at around 1. 6 months later she doesn't cough much when up but has awful coughing fits when in bed - both when napping and at night. It can go on for 20 mins and makes me feel horrible listening to it and not being able to do anything.

We have taken her to a doctor who gave her an inhaler that didn't make any difference and she has had her chest listened to which is clear.

We keep her window open and have tried putting damp towels on her radiator which sometimes seems to help a bit but she doesn't have the radiator on so much now.

Any ideas what else we can do or should I be pestering the doctor again? Poor thing seems to be so used to it she doesn't cry and just goes back to sleep when it's over but I worry something is wrong and how sore her throat must be :(

It's the lying flat that makes us cough more in bed. Can you prop her up a bit on pillows (a v shape pillow can be good) or tilt her cot mattress if she's still in a cot?

Thanks for the reply toddle. I've put the end of her cot up on a pile of books already. She doesn't have a pillow though so could try that.

I would take her back in case it's asthma
