NHS dentist in NW London?!

I've spent most of today calling around my local dentists (I live in Hampstead NW3) trying to find somewhere I can register my kids. They really need to have a dentist now, they are 3 and 2 and have never been.

Nowhere is accepting NHS patients, I've called 11 surgeries so far. I've spread the net really quite wide and I'm having no luck.

Is there some sort of resource I should be trying? Have I got the wrong end of the stick somehow?

My local dentist is private only, they charge £98 for the dentist and then £75 for the hygienist which they 'highly recommend'. FOR A 2 YEAR OLD?!??! Not going to happen.

Not quite sure what to do now, any advice much appreciated!

Try putting your postcode here

Thank you BoW, I've tried that, keeps throwing up the same practices, who all say they're not taking on any new patients until someone dies. V frustrating.

I've got a NHS dentist on N10. Can you register out of your postcode? I don't know the rules.

Plenty of NHS dentists in nw5. Can you register with one of them?

cordiality · 03/06/2014 23:19

Thanks for all the suggestions, I've now found one in St John's wood that sounds good but it may be an issue that it's not in the right borough,,
and another one in camden that I will go check out.

I had no idea it was such a tricky thing, I'd assumed it was just like doctors, that I could register with my local practice.

We live and learn!

If you ring NHS Direct they can give you details of your nearest accepting practice...they are often reluctant to, but you have the right to the information. X

Hi Social,

I'm in N19 and looking for a child-friendly dentist for my 6 year old.

Is your N10 one good with kids, do you know?

Does anyone else have recommendations for good child-friendly dentists in the Archway/Tufnell Park/Muswell Hill/Crouch End area please?

Much obliged Smile

Hello,
I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good NHS dentist in and around N10 please?
Has to be good with children.
Ideally, somebody who won’t push the whole hygienist thing either😊
Thanks.
