DS is 4mo and although I know this is pre the recommended age for going into his own room, he is too big for his Moses basket and his cot won't fit in our room. I think being in the confined space and being in the room with us is starting to disturb him. So we made the decision that tonight he would go in his own room. I put his Moses basket in his cot for the transition stage. As it happens, DS wouldn't settle so I decided he wasn't quite ready yet and put his basket back in our room.
Just now, DS woke, I fed him and put him back in his basket. A few minutes later, I woke (although barely asleep) to the sound of him spluttering as if drowning on saliva and kicking his legs as if he was being suffocated. I have never been so scared in all my life. I put the light on and got up to grab him but in the seconds it took for me to get to him, he managed to sort it himself. I honestly feel like a few more seconds would have meant the unthinkable. As you can imagine, I'm now going through the what ifs and DS will probably still be sleeping in our room at 21!
Does anyone know if this is common and/or if it's the case that he will always sort it out himself? He had his dummy but it must have fallen out just before if that makes a difference.
DS does quite often make coughing/choking noises during the day, albeit very briefly, could it be that he has a problem with his swallow? Or am I completely overthinking this because I now can't sleep?!
