14 mo may have asthma - coughing, mucous help

My DD has been ill for the last month, coughing, temp, rash, mucous.

Doctors have tried antibiotics, then anti histamine but she's not getting better so doctor thinks it may be asthma.

We've been trying inhaler for just over 24 hours and things have improved a little. But tonight she had major coughing fit after milk and threw up quite a lot of mucous.

I really don't know what to do, I think she may get worse after milk, I have no idea when to take her to A&E. I'm really worried and getting in a tizzy.

Anyone got some advice?

Have you contacted NHS 111? (The new NHS direct). They may be able to advise you for over the weekend. I know how horrible A&Es can be with a little one. Hope things get better for you.

DD2, 13 months, has asthma that shows as a persistent cough. Especially at night. It started about 6 months ago, and after repeated trips to the GP where they kept ruling out chest infections and saying come back if it doesn't improve, one finally prescribed an inhaler to try. It has helped hugely. The first time it took about a week for the night time coughing to clear. Now, we don't use it routinely but only if the coughing returns, which it does if she gets a cold, and usually two or three nights is enough. Mostly we give it if she wakes up coughing and can't stop, we don't tend to just give it before bed unless she's very bad.

But she didn't have any of the other symptoms you mention, so I don't know how significant that is. Hope she's ok.
