What does ringworm look like when it begins?

My 14 yr old son has had ringworm on his hand for ages and now a patch on his forearm that is the typical ring shape. He is using Antigua gal cream but not sure it's working. He now has a mark on his cheek that has been there a week or two I think and it just looks like a pimple but I'm worrying its more ringworm. What does it like at first? I assume they won't just wake up with it looking like ringworm but would it be more a scaly area. Thanks

It starts like an itchy insect bite, then blister then a ring of itchy blisters. Canesten is good, you need an anti fungal

Thanks. It's meant to read he's using an anti fungal cream! How long does it usually take to go from a spot to the classic ringworm shape? Just doesn't seem to be clearing with the creams.

about a week, from what i remember. but the anti fungal should stop it. perhaps the drs can give something stronger, or tablets if it's not shifting

Ringworm can just look like a circular patch of red skin.it can be very stubborn. Drs aren't keen on giving anti fungal tablets as they can have serious side effects.
