Blocked tear duct

Ds is three months old & since he was born he has had sticky, weepy eyes. His right eye seemed to clear up after a few weeks but his left eye just won't seem to clear. Hv and gp both told me it's because he has a blocked tear duct and there isn't anything that will help, we just need to make sure we keep his eye clean.
It just doesn't seem to be getting any better. If anything it's getting worse. Has anyone else DC had this problem? When did it start to clear up?

My DD has this, it cleared up about four months. Massage seemed to help, info here:

Mine both had it, it went away by itself. By six months for DS1, four months for DS2.

Exactly the same thing happened to DS and we were told nothing would help, and we may need to have an operation to unblock it.

It did clearly but only when I was 100% vigilant about one piece of cotton wool per wipe with cooled, boiled water, and massage as above. I did the cleaning and massage about 10 times a day for about 4-5 days and then it cleared.
