Chicken Pox Spots... But no other symptoms?

Chicken pox has been going round nursery, and today DS 2.1 has spots on his tummy, back, legs and nappy area. I'd say approx 10 spots altogether.

He has no other symptoms though, and is his usual self, eating well etc.

Could it be chicken pox? The spots certainly look like it, but I thought it came with cold/flu like symptoms.

Yes it could be my ds1 had it was covered in the blisters but otherwise was absolutely fine eating, drinking no fever etc. my gp had me show him a pic of the spots (I had my recently got my 24 week preemie home so couldn't go to the surgery thank heavens he didn't catch it!) and diagnosed chicken pox. Ds 1 never had any other symptoms at all.

The GP told me the distinctive thing about chickenpox is spots on the scalp, in the hair.

If he gets those, you can be confident it's chickenpox.

With my DC2, the symptoms came a week or so before the spots, and DC1 had almost no symptoms besides a few spots.

Ok thanks. No spots on the hairline yet.

He isn't itchy or anything, but I have calamine lotion and piriton syrup at the ready!

Lots of spots on the hairline, and in the hair!

The ones on his head are really bothering him, but he has lots of curly hair and so I can't put calamine lotion on, any tips for soothing the itching?
