Heart murmur?

Took my 12 year old DS the doctors with stomach cramps.
Seen a locum doctor who listened to his chest and said he could hear a murmur and that his ribs are sunken in.
This came as a surprise as no one else has ever said this and his chest looks normal to me.
He's recently had a growth spurt so is looking a little skinny as he's gone taller and you can see his ribs but the look pretty normal to me.
Locum doctor said he'd like him to be seen by a specialist. I took Ds back the next day to see our usual doctor and asked what he thought. Usual doctor listened to his chest and said absolutely no murmur, his ribs are normal and that there's nothing to worry about. So I'm understanbly confused now. Would you still go the specialist or go with what family doctor said and that he's fine?

Tbh I would still see a specialist just to be sure. You can't be certain that your doctor is right

I agree. My DD had a real murmer which was only heard by one dr, despite the fact that 20+ drs had listened to her chest as part of general checks. Hopefully everything is fine, but best to be reassured properly I'd say. All the best....

My dd had a heart murmur found when she was 9 months old and the next morning it couldnt be found. Shes nearly 2 now and its never happened again.

Go to the specialist for peace of mind but it's not uncommon for it to happen.

See a specialist for peace of mind. It's always worth ruling murmurs out. Lots of heart problems are missed and not diagnosed until adulthood. Some murmurs are more audible than others and some doctors are better at identifying them.

I would go to the specialist, just to put your mind at rest, but even if it is a heart murmur, it doesn't mean there is a problem. I have one. It was fully checked out, and found to be innocent, and harmless. I know several other people who are similar.

I have an intermittent innocent murmur. I would follow through with the specialist just to be sure, but a lot of them are harmless

I have one but it's only heard in pregnancy with me, my son has a innocent murmur that isn't heard often but they need to be checked out.
