Hello, I payed last month with regard to this as the dreadful associated rash, I'm pleased to report the rash is much improved (cavilon, I think was the main help with this) but my son is still witholding... I'm not sure what to try next it's been since Christmas and he isn't budging, no matter what we try. Doctor suggested upping the movicol to 2, then 4, then 8 a day, and then back to 2 a day. When he was on 8 it cleared him out, but now he's back to 2 and it's firm enough to hold in, but not still some comes out resulting in wiping many many times a day (aqueous cream and cotton wool pads) we've tried all the recommended books, blowing bubbles (when he's holding in he won't listen to anything never mind blow bubbles) ignoring, discussing.... Nothing is working. Now we just tell him 'you know why it hurts, you know why to do' and carry on with what we're doing. After the movicol cleared him out, for a couple of days he told me 'I'm pooing in my nappy' which was great, then he started crossing his legs again and we're back to witholding and leg crossing episodes about 20 times a day... Doctors won't refer him and the health visitor just keeps telling me we are doing the right things... It's hugely frustrating and there seems to be no end in sight.... Posting in the hope that someone may be able to suggest something we can try we haven't already...?
