Would fish oils and probiotics help with 4 year old constipation?

DD has suffered from constipation from being a baby, she has been particularly bad over the past year since being ill. She wears pull ups due to frequent soiling and takes movicol daily. Her diet is reasonably healthy but from googling I wondered if adding fish oils and probiotics might help.

Has anyone tried these or have any other suggestions?

I think probiotics can help. Have you tried going dairy free? That's what finally got rid of ds1's constipation. Once it was sorted and he had been going daily for a good long while we gradually reintroduced it so it wasn't forever. Mind you as soon as we started weaning ds2 we realised dairy have him constipation too so he is now dairy free.

I had wondered about dairy, she is very fond of milk.

It is pretty common for it to cause problems. ds1 was fine on goat milk. ds2 we use soya as he seems to have more issues with it, bad tummy cramps etc. goat is easier on the digestive system than cow but the proteins are similar so children with allergies to dairy often react to goat too.

No harm trying, could be the key and if it doesn't help them no harm done. You need to give it about 6 weeks to clear it all from her system.

Can I ask about constipation?
Is it when they don't go very often? My ds1 (3) had blood in her poo the other day. She had a massive poo then five mins later did a small one with blood through it. I'm worried to bits, doc says could be a tear from the big poo or constipation. She goes regularly but they are mostly big. She is also weeing a lot since xx
