17 month olds left foot turns out

My 17 month old DS left foot and turns out when he's walking. I first noticed there was something wrong when he was 8 months old. He couldn't sit unaided, would only roll over one way and wouldn't weight bare on his feet. I mentioned this to my health visitor who refered him to our GP who them said she would just keep an eye on him.

He started walking holding onto something at about 13 months old which is when I noticed his left foot and knee turns out when he's putting weight on it, so I took him back to the GP, who again said she's keep an eye on it. He's now 17 months old and walking unaided but still has this problem. I took him back to the GP again and she just said "yes he has a wide gait but it's all normal" I feel like she's just fobbing us off, what can I do? Does anyone else thinks there's a problem here or is it just me worrying too much? Confused

How is his spine?

Hi as a physio I would say that is not normal. If it is one foot and very pronounced?

Take ur doc back to the go and ask for a referral to a paediatric physio and you may need to see orthopaedics?

Any number of things are possible and hip problems are common in this age group.
Get doc checked out just in case.

Hi, sorry for the late reply, yes it is just one foot and very pronounced.

As far as I'm aware his spine is ok. He doesn't like lying on his back with his legs straight though, he cries and lifts them up again. He also sleeps with his feet up on the side of his cot.

Would echo getting hips checked out. My DS, albeit a lot older, developed an out turned leg along with pains in his knee and it turned out to be a problem with his hip.
