Ear infection or not?

My 5 mo has started pulling at one of her ears and rubbing the side of her head quite a lot. I know this can be a sign of teething but after googling (which I know is a mistake!) I think she also has other symptoms of an ear infection - trouble sleeping (when lying flat) when previously an excellent sleeper, irritability when feeding (also previously a good feeder). I know these things could all be coincidence but should I take her to get checked out or am I just being over-anxious because she is my first?!!

Yes, ear infection or at the very least wax buildup. At 5mo you are at the very early stage of teething, and the symptoms of that don't generally include ear problems ime (but nothing is out of the question)

Forget the over anxious thing and pop her to the quack first thing tmr. Doctors never mind having a look at a baby. In the meantime if she is in pain or having trouble sleeping, 2.5ml Calpol will do the trick.

Hth and she's fine.
