Nappy thrush/sore bottom

Hi

My 4 week old DD has had nappy rash for a few weeks. Last Thursday it got so bad that I took her to GP who said it was thrush. Prescribed Daktarin which made it worse, so saw on call GP who prescribed Timodebe on Saturday. We should have stopped using yesterday but I'm aware it can be used for 7 days so going to use til Saturday. Rash is still present- but not as bad. Though still looks red raw. I'm fairly confident it's caused by her poo- she's exclusively breast fed and poos probably 8 times a day- the usual bright yellow, seedy, runny poo.
I'm using the Timodebe twice a day, had been using metanium thinly at every nappy change, though yesterday I tried the Burt's bees multipurpose ointment as it seemed more like a barrier.
Today I'm at a loss- it looks a little more angry than yesterday. Should I be applying a barrier (like the Burt's bees ointment) over top of the metanium? I ask because the metanium just seems to wipe off on to her nappy instantly despite me putting it on thinly as the packaging says- in turn it affects the absorbency of the nappy.
Maybe I'm over thinking things but just can't bear to see this scarlet little sore bum anymore, never mind listen to the screams following a poo or wee!
(Ps using cotton wool and water to clean and doing loads of nappy off time)

Have you tried matanium barrier cream rather than the nappy rash one?

Neem oil. Miracle in a bottle.

Also, try using liquid paraffin (unscented baby oil) instead of water, my midwife suggested this and the red cannesten (sp?)! cream for thrush and it cleared up my DS's stubborn sore nappy rash.

For normal rash, nipple cream works as a barrier, better than sudocrem or bapanthan

I personally recommend Berts Bees Diaper ointment over the all purpose ointment (which is thinner) as it contains lovely soothing herbs - never needed to use anything stronger than this even if bum was red raw sore. Bit of nappy off time always helps too. I like above suggestion of Neem oil too - you could mix a few drops into a cream.

Washing with (luke warm) chamomile tea also helps.
